NMN forms compared: what each costs, and what's been tested

Renue By Science sells NMN as a powder, liposomal capsules, enteric-coated capsules, sublingual tablets and a gel. Here is the cost of a 500 mg dose of each, and whether the human trials tested that format.

Bottom line

The human NMN trials we have reviewed gave NMN by mouth, swallowed. None of them tested liposomal, enteric-coated, sublingual or gel NMN, so those trials give no evidence that any of these formats works better than plain NMN. At current prices the liposomal capsules cost 5.3× the powder per 500 mg dose ($1.44 vs $0.27).

Cost per 500 mg dose and human evidence, by format

FormatNMN per servingCost per 500 mgHuman evidence for this format
500 mg$0.27Closest to the trials if swallowed The NMN trials we have reviewed gave NMN by mouth, swallowed (Pencina 2023 used 500 mg tablets). Powder mixed into a drink is the same molecule taken the same way. Renue also lists its powder for use under the tongue; no trial we have reviewed tested that. (Pencina 2023; Yi 2023)

250 mg$0.59No human trials of this format in the studies we have reviewed Renue says the coating protects NMN from gut bacteria. We have not found a human trial of enteric-coated NMN. Renue's SLC capsule also contains 100 mg TMG per capsule.

Sublingual or chewable tabletNMNs Fast Dissolve Tabs
250 mg$0.92No human trials of this format in the studies we have reviewed Renue says part of the dose is absorbed under the tongue. We have not found a human trial of sublingual NMN that measured this.

Liposomal capsuleNMN Liposomal Capsules
500 mg$1.44No human trials of this format in the studies we have reviewed Renue says liposomes protect NMN through digestion for slower release. We have not found a human trial comparing liposomal NMN with plain NMN, so any absorption advantage is unmeasured in people.

Liposomal gel (under the tongue)NMN Resveratrol Gel
240 mg$1.78No human trials of this format in the studies we have reviewed We have not found a human trial of NMN gel. Renue's gel also contains 40 mg trans-resveratrol per 2 mL serving, which this page does not grade.

What the format doesn't change

Every format delivers the same molecule. What the trials found for NMN itself applies, at best, equally to all of them:

  • Oral NMN raised blood NAD+ in randomized trials in adults, at 300 to 2,000 mg a day. (Yi 2023; Pencina 2023)
  • Pooled trials found a modest endurance benefit at medium and high doses. (Gao 2026)
  • No consistent effect on strength, muscle mass, perceived fatigue or sleep in pooled trials. (Gao 2026; Prokopidis 2025)

Not in the table

  • Nasal spray. Renue's NAD+ Complete Nasal Spray has 10 mg NMN per 2-spray serving, plus NAD+, NR and trigonelline. The oral trials used 300 to 2,000 mg a day, so a cost per 500 mg would mislead. We have not found a human trial of intranasal NMN.
  • NAD+ Complete. A liposomal capsule blending NMN 310 mg, NAD+ 160 mg, NR 100 mg and trigonelline 70 mg per 2-capsule serving, 120 capsules (60 servings) per bottle. Because it mixes four ingredients, a cost per 500 mg of any one of them would mislead, so we give none, and we have not found a human trial of the blend.
  • Patches. Renue does not list an NMN patch.

How the numbers are worked out

Cost per 500 mg dose = price ÷ servings × (500 ÷ mg NMN per serving), using the single-unit, one-time price on renuebyscience.com. Multi-packs, subscriptions and sale prices are left out. "Human evidence for this format" covers the NMN trials cited in our published articles, which are checked against PubMed; a format we list as untested may have studies we have not yet reviewed.
